DHM has conducted stakeholder consultation meeting on establishment of Upper Air Radiosonde on 4th of August, 2017 at the premises of Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (CDHM), Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur. The meeting was chaired by Head of the Department of CDHM Dr. Deepak Aryal. Rector of Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Sudha Tripathi was invited as chief guest. Meteorologist of DHM Ms. Shanti Kandel presented on Upper Air Radiosonde station to be established at Kirtipur. Representative from CAAN, CDHM, Kirtipur, Central Department of Environment Science, Institute of Science and Technology, World Bank, elected ward chairman of Kirtipur Municipality participated in the consultation meeting. The participants put their queries on use of Radiosonde, importance of information received from Radiosonde and its sustainability. CAAN representative emphasized the need of close coordination and collaboration for the launching of the Radiosonde for the aviation safety. The elected chairman suggested to arrange an awareness to the local people about the Radiosonde so that they are not puzzled by the launch of the Radiosonde. Director General of DHM Dr. Rishi Ram Sharma and Deputy Director General Saraju Kumar Baidya answered all the queries of participants. Chief guest Prof. Dr. Sudha Tripathi expressed her best wishes for sooner establishment of the Radiosonde station. Lastly, chairperson of the consultation meeting, Dr. Deepak Aryal thanked all participants for their valuable time and suggestions and wrapped up the meeting.
